Overview

Camps Bay is an upscale coastal resort area along Cape Town's Atlantic shoreline. The beachfront strip along Victoria Road features a promenade lined with restaurants, cafes, and shops. Visitors go to walk along the water, dine outdoors, and spend time on the sand.

Getting There

From central Cape Town, driving or taking a taxi via Kloof Nek Road takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes in normal traffic. Public buses also serve the route from the city centre.

Time to Spend

Allow 2 to 3 hours to walk the strip and have a meal. Extend this to half a day if spending time on the beach.

When to Visit

Summer brings the warmest weather, though the area gets heavily crowded and parking is limited. Late afternoon is popular for dining during sunset. For fewer crowds and easier parking, go on weekday mornings.
