Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Teresa de Avila
What it is
This is a Roman Catholic parish church in Talisay, on the outskirts of Cebu City, built between 1836 and 1848 under the Archdiocese of Cebu. The facade follows a classical Graeco-Roman style, with two bell towers linked by a columned porch. In 2007 it was elevated to archdiocesan shrine status, and pilgrims visiting that year could receive a plenary indulgence. It's a stop for people interested in Spanish-colonial-era church architecture or in Cebu's Catholic heritage, rather than a major standalone sightseeing draw.
Getting there
Talisay is just south of Cebu City proper. From the city centre, a taxi or ride-hailing car typically takes around 20–30 minutes depending on traffic; jeepneys running the Cebu City–Talisay route are a cheaper option and take somewhat longer. If flying in via 막탄 세부 국제공항(CEB), plan for a longer transfer, as the airport is on Mactan Island across the bridges from the mainland.

Most visitors spend 20–30 minutes here, enough to view the facade, step inside, and look around the churchyard.
When to go
Mornings tend to be quieter and cooler for walking around outside. Expect larger crowds during Mass times, especially on Sundays and around major Catholic feast days, so aim for a weekday or an off-Mass hour if you'd rather look around without a service in progress.
