Cebu Taoist Temple

Cebu Taoist Temple

Cebu Taoist Temple is a Taoist temple located in Beverly Hills Subdivision of Cebu City, Philippines.

Cebu Taoist Temple

This is an active Taoist temple built by Cebu's Chinese-Filipino community, set on a hillside in the Beverly Hills Subdivision above the city. It combines a working place of worship with a lookout point, so visitors go both to see the temple's architecture — dragon motifs, red pillars, tiered gates — and to get a view over Cebu City from the elevated site.

Getting there

From the city centre, the temple is reached by taxi or ride-hailing app, which is the simplest option given the uphill drive through residential streets. Depending on traffic and your starting point, expect roughly 20–30 minutes. Some public jeepneys run partway up the hill, but they don't reach the entrance directly, so a taxi is more practical for most travellers.

How much time to allow

Most visits take around 30 to 60 minutes, enough to walk through the temple grounds, take in the view, and browse nearby stalls.

When to go

Mornings tend to be quieter and cooler for walking the steps and outdoor areas. Weekends and holidays draw more local visitors and tour groups, so expect more foot traffic then. Since much of the visit is outdoors and involves stairs, an overcast morning is more comfortable than midday heat.

Combine it with

The Cebu City Philippines Temple is only about 1.3 km away, making it an easy pairing on the same trip. Matilda L. Bradford Memorial Church (3.2 km) is also within reach if you're touring religious sites in the area. Museo Sugbo (3.9 km) and the Cathedral Museum of Cebu (4.5 km) are further out but can be folded into a broader day covering Cebu City's heritage sites, particularly if you're heading back toward downtown afterward.
