Overview

Meriç Bridge is an Ottoman-era stone bridge spanning the Meriç River in Edirne. Because main traffic has been redirected to a newer bridge, the historic structure serves as a pedestrian crossing where visitors can walk across the river and observe the surrounding landscape at leisure.

Getting There

The site is located south of Edirne's city centre. Walking from the center takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Local minibuses and taxis reach the crossing in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan for 30 to 45 minutes to cross the bridge, view the riverbanks, and see the central stone pavilion.

When to Visit

Late afternoon offers cooler temperatures and good light. Summer middays can be hot due to minimal shade on the span. Expect larger local crowds on weekend afternoons, while weekday mornings are quieter.
