Ard-al-Moharbeen Necropolis

This site is a Roman-era necropolis dating from approximately the 1st to 3rd centuries. It is the largest archaeological site identified in the region and is historically linked to the ancient city of Anthedon. Visitors go here to see the remains of ancient burial structures and study the Roman influence on the Gaza Strip's early urban landscape.

Getting There

The site is located within Gaza City. From the city centre, it is accessible via local transport or taxi. The journey typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the site and observe the archaeological remains.

When to Visit

The site is outdoors, so visiting during the cooler months of autumn or winter is preferable to avoid the intense summer heat. Early morning or late afternoon provides the most comfortable temperatures for exploration.
