Tell es-Sakan

Tell es-Sakan consists of the archaeological remains of a Bronze Age settlement located south of Gaza City. The site served as a strategic foothold for ancient Egypt in the region. Visitors go here to explore the physical traces of this early urban center and study the historical influence of Egyptian administration in the Levant.

Getting There

The site is located on the southern outskirts of Gaza City. From the city center, it is accessible via local transport or taxi. The journey typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the ruins and observe the remaining structures.

When to Visit

The site is an open-air archaeological area, so visiting during the cooler months of autumn or winter is preferable to avoid extreme heat. Morning visits are recommended for better visibility and temperature. There are no regular crowds typical of major tourist hubs.
