Tell Umm el-'Amr
About the Site
Tell Umm el-'Amr is an ancient archaeological site containing the ruins of Saint Hilarion's Monastery, founded in the 4th century. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the location features preserved stone foundations, crypts, church remnants, living quarters, and bath complexes that illustrate early Christian monastic architecture in the region.
Getting There
Located south of central Gaza City, the grounds can be reached by car or local taxi. The drive from the city center typically takes between 15 and 25 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the excavated sectors and view the surviving structural layouts and stone masonry.
When to Go
