The Royal Chapel in Gdańsk is a Baroque Catholic chapel completed in 1681. Located in the historic center adjacent to St. Mary's Church, it was built under King John III Sobieski. Travelers visit to view its ornate Baroque facade, which contrasts with the surrounding red-brick Gothic buildings.

Getting There

Located in the Main Town, the chapel is a two-minute walk from Długa Street. From Gdańsk Główny railway station, it is approximately a 15-minute walk southeast through the historic center, or a short tram ride to the Brama Wyżynna stop.

Time to Spend

Allow 15 to 30 minutes. Because the building is compact, a brief stop is enough to view the exterior carvings and step inside if open.

When to Go

The area is busiest on summer afternoons. To avoid crowds, visit during morning hours or in spring and autumn. In winter, visit before mid-afternoon for adequate daylight.
