Overview

Playa de Poniente is a sandy beach situated northwest of Gibraltar, offering about 800 meters of shoreline. It provides an open space for coastal walks and fresh sea air, serving as a quieter alternative to the territory's commercial districts.

Getting There

From central Gibraltar, reaching the beach on foot takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes walking northward. Local buses and taxis complete the journey from the town centre in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Suggested Duration

Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk the length of the shore and spend time by the water.

When to Visit

Early mornings and late afternoons offer the most comfortable conditions for walking. The shore gets busier during warm summer afternoons, while autumn and winter tend to be much quieter and windier. Midday summer visits can be uncomfortably warm due to the lack of shade along the sand.
