Playa de Santa Bárbara

Located just north of the Gibraltar border, this beach features a promenade providing views of the Mediterranean Sea and the airport runway. Visitors typically go here for the coastal scenery and to see the nearby remains of the old Santa Bárbara fort.

Getting There

The beach is situated on the western side of the territory. From the city centre, you can reach it via local bus or taxi. The journey generally takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions near the border crossing.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk along the promenade and explore the ruins of the fort. If you plan to spend time on the sand, you may wish to allocate a half-day.

When to Visit

The beach is most active during the summer months. It can become crowded during weekends and public holidays. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon helps avoid the peak midday heat and the largest crowds.
