Church of the Holy Saviour

Overview

The Church of the Holy Saviour is a 19th-century church located south of Vartanants Square in central Gyumri, Armenia. Built between 1858 and 1872 and consecrated in 1873, it is one of the city's key religious structures. Travellers visit to study its distinctive Armenian masonry, large central dome, and architectural place in the historic urban landscape.

Getting There

Located in the heart of the city, the site is directly accessible on foot from anywhere in central Gyumri. Walking from the central square takes roughly two to three minutes.

Time to Spend

Allow approximately 30 to 45 minutes to walk around the exterior facade and view the interior hall.

When to Visit

Visit during daylight hours to clearly view the stone carving details on the exterior. Spring to autumn provides the most comfortable conditions for walking. The church experiences more foot traffic and attendance during Sunday services and religious holidays; choose weekday mornings if you prefer a quiet visit.
