The site is located outside the center of Hafnarfjörður. Access requires a rental car or a private tour, as there is no direct public transit to the volcano. The drive from the town center typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on road conditions.

Most travelers spend between 1 and 2 hours at the site. This allows enough time to walk around the base and observe the geological formations of the palagonite tuff.
