Hiroshima Castle

Located on flat ground in central Hiroshima, this site consists of a reconstructed main keep and surrounding grounds designated as a national historic site. Visitors go here to explore the history museum housed within the keep and to walk through the castle park. It is also known by the nickname "Carp Castle."

Getting There

The castle is situated in the city center. Depending on your starting point, it is accessible via local streetcars or a short walk from central hubs. Travel time from the heart of the city typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to tour the museum inside the main keep and walk through the surrounding park grounds.

When to Visit

The grounds are open throughout the year. Spring and autumn are common times for visitors due to the park setting. Like most central attractions, it can get crowded during public holidays and peak tourist seasons.
