Heritage & monuments
Hiroshima Peace Memorial
The former commercial exhibition hall in Hiroshima, preserved in its half-destroyed state after the 1945 atomic bombing. As a site testifying to the horrors of war, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996.

Hiroshima Castle
This castle stands on flat ground in central Hiroshima, and the surrounding grounds have been made into a park designated as a national historic site. The reconstructed main keep now houses a history museum, and the castle is also known by the nickname "Carp Castle."
