Ragunan Zoo
Overview
Ragunan Zoo is an expansive zoological park in South Jakarta housing more than 2,000 animals, including native Indonesian species and wildlife from around the world. The grounds feature dedicated facilities such as a primate house and a bird house set within a heavily wooded park environment.
Getting There
From central Jakarta, the park is accessible by TransJakarta bus (Corridor 6) or via taxi and ride-hailing services. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes 45 to 90 minutes.
Time to Spend
Allow 3 to 4 hours to cover the main animal enclosures and walking paths. Exploring the extensive grounds thoroughly can take half a day.
When to Visit
Go early in the morning to avoid midday heat and to see animals when they are most active. The park gets very crowded on weekends and public holidays, so a weekday visit is preferable for fewer crowds.
