Jewish Quarter
Overview
The Jewish Quarter is one of four sectors in Jerusalem's Old City, stretching from Zion Gate toward the Western Wall and Temple Mount. Travellers visit to explore its stone alleys, residential areas, and historical sites, as well as local shops selling Judaica and books.
Getting There
From central Jerusalem, you can walk through Jaffa Gate or Zion Gate. Alternatively, take the city light rail to City Hall or Damascus Gate and enter the Old City on foot. Walking from downtown takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes.
Time to Allow
Plan to spend 1.5 to 3 hours exploring the streets, historical remains, and small shops.
When to Go
Weekday mornings and early afternoons are best for walking. The streets get crowded during religious holidays and on Friday afternoons. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable weather for walking.
