Sveti Marko Island
What to Expect
Sveti Marko Island is an island in the Bay of Kotor, located near Tivat in Montenegro. Covered largely in pine trees and greenery, it provides a quiet natural environment for visitors looking to explore coastal walking paths and coastal scenery away from populated towns.
Getting There
From the centre of Kotor, you can reach the Tivat coast by road in roughly 15 to 25 minutes by bus, car, or taxi. Reaching the island itself requires a boat transfer or water taxi from the shore, which takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Time to Allow
Plan to spend between 1.5 and 3 hours here. This provides sufficient time to walk along the paths, explore the natural surroundings, and take a round-trip boat transfer.
When to Go
Late spring to early autumn provides the calmest sea conditions and mildest weather for boat crossings. Morning or late afternoon visits help avoid midday heat. The island rarely gets crowded, though boat transfers are less frequent outside the summer months.
