What to Expect

Geguti contains the ruins of a medieval royal palace, located in a village 7 kilometers south of Kutaisi. Visitors can walk among exposed brick and stone structures, including vaulted chambers and foundation walls that once formed part of the royal court. It provides an unadorned look at secular medieval architecture.

Getting There

The site sits 7 kilometers south of central Kutaisi. A drive by taxi or private car takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Local minibuses heading to the village also run from transit hubs in the city.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 30 to 60 minutes on site. The area is compact, allowing sufficient time to inspect the excavated masonry and layout at an unhurried pace.

When to Visit

Arrive during daylight hours, as the open ruins lack lighting. Spring and autumn provide comfortable temperatures for walking outdoors. The location remains quiet and rarely experiences crowds.
