Tomb of Jahangir
Located in Shahdara Bagh on the banks of the Ravi River, this 1637 mausoleum marks the resting place of the Mughal emperor Jahangir. Visitors go here to see the Mughal architectural style, specifically the frescoes, marble inlay, and pietra dura stonework decorating the interior and exterior of the structure.
Getting There
The site is situated outside the main city center of Lahore. Travelers typically reach it via taxi or ride-sharing services. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey from the center usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to walk through the gardens and examine the details of the main mausoleum.
When to Visit
The site is an open-air complex, so visiting during the cooler months of winter is preferable to avoid the extreme heat of the summer. Early morning or late afternoon provides more comfortable temperatures for walking the grounds. It can get crowded during public holidays.
