Overview

KV30 is an ancient Egyptian tomb located in the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor. Dating to the mid-18th Dynasty, the site was first uncovered by Giovanni Belzoni in 1817, with modern excavations restarting in 2009. Travellers interested in Egyptology visit the area to observe the archaeology and terrain of the ancient necropolis.

Getting There

From central Luxor on the East Bank, take a public ferry or motorboat across the Nile, then travel by taxi or private car toward the Valley of the Kings. The trip from the city centre generally takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Time to Spend

Allow about 15 to 30 minutes at the site itself, or 2 to 3 hours if touring the surrounding valley complex.

When to Visit

Go early in the morning during the cooler winter months from October to April to avoid intense desert heat. Midday brings high temperatures and substantial tour group crowds throughout the main valley area.
