What It Is

KV60 is an ancient Egyptian tomb located in the Valley of the Kings on Luxor's West Bank. Discovered by Howard Carter in 1903, the site gained significant archaeological attention when one of the mummies recovered within was identified as Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Visitors interested in Egyptology and New Kingdom funerary archaeology come here to understand this key discovery site.

Getting There

The tomb lies across the Nile on the West Bank. From central Luxor, take the local public ferry across the river and hire a taxi, or travel entirely by road via the Luxor Bridge. The journey from the city centre takes approximately 35 to 50 minutes.

Time to Allow

Allow around 20 to 30 minutes at the site itself. A comprehensive visit to the surrounding Valley of the Kings area generally requires 2 to 3 hours.

When to Visit

Visit between November and March for milder temperatures, as the open desert valley becomes extremely hot during summer. Aim for early morning to avoid peak heat and large tour group crowds.
