Upeh Island

Upeh Island is a small landmass located 600 meters off the coast of Klebang in Malacca. It is characterized by dense forestation and is historically known as a nesting site for Hawksbill turtles. Visitors typically go to explore the natural vegetation and find the remains of an abandoned resort located within the island's interior.

Getting There

To reach the island, travel from Malacca city centre to the coast of Klebang. From the shoreline, a short boat trip is required to cross the 600-meter stretch of water. The journey from the city centre generally takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Duration of Visit

A few hours are usually sufficient to walk through the forest and explore the abandoned structures. The island's small size means most accessible areas can be covered in a half-day trip.

When to Visit

Visiting during the morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. Travelers should check local weather conditions, as heavy rain can affect boat transfers and forest trail accessibility.

Nearby Attractions

The island can be combined with other sites in the Klebang and city areas:

  • Submarine Museum: 2.5km
  • Klebang Beach: 2.9km
  • Tranquerah Mosque: 3.5km
  • Sri Poyatha Moorthi Temple: 4.6km
