Exploring Centro
Centro is the downtown district of Montevideo. It serves as the city's commercial and administrative hub, centered around Avenida 18 de Julio. Travelers visit this area to access a concentration of shops, theaters, and cultural venues. Because of its central location and layout, it is a practical starting point for those who prefer to explore the city on foot.
Getting There
As this area is the city center, no additional travel is required to reach it from the center. Visitors arriving from Carrasco International Airport (MVD) can reach the district via taxi or airport shuttle.
Time Allocation
Depending on the pace of exploration, allow between three to six hours to walk the main avenue and visit the surrounding squares. This provides enough time to browse the shops and observe the local architecture without rushing.
