About Île Notre-Dame

Île Notre-Dame is an artificial island located in the St. Lawrence River. It forms part of the larger Parc Jean-Drapeau complex. Travelers visit this location for its open green spaces, walking paths, and views of the Montreal skyline across the water.

Getting There

The island is located just outside the downtown core. Most visitors reach the area via the Montreal Metro, taking the yellow line to the Jean-Drapeau station. From the city center, the trip typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

Suggested Duration

Depending on your activity, allow 2 to 4 hours to explore the island's paths and waterfront areas. This provides enough time for a leisurely walk or a bike ride around the perimeter.

When to Visit

The island is most accessible during the spring, summer, and autumn. During the summer months, the area can become crowded, particularly during major city festivals or events hosted within the park. Early morning or weekday visits are generally quieter.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its location, you can easily combine a visit here with other nearby sites:

  • Parc Jean-Drapeau (0.2km): The surrounding parkland that encompasses the island.
  • Saint Helen's Island (1.4km): The adjacent natural island.
  • Montreal Clock Tower (1.5km): A landmark located along the Old Port waterfront.
  • La Ronde (1.7km): An amusement park located on the same island complex.
