St. Elmo Bridge
This is a pedestrian bridge in Valletta that connects Fort St. Elmo to the breakwater at the entrance of the Grand Harbour. Visitors go here to walk over the sea and view the harbor and the surrounding fortifications from an elevated perspective.
Getting There
The bridge is located at the tip of the Valletta peninsula. From the city centre, it is accessible via a walk toward the waterfront. Depending on your starting point in the city, the walk typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Most visitors spend between 30 and 60 minutes at the bridge, depending on whether they are simply crossing it or spending time observing the harbor activity.
When to Visit
The bridge is open to the air, so it is most accessible during daylight hours. It can become crowded during peak tourist seasons and on cruise ship docking days. To avoid the largest crowds, visiting in the early morning is recommended.
