Qixingshan

Qixingshan is the highest peak in the Yangmingshan volcanic range, reaching an elevation of 1,120 meters. Visitors go here to hike through volcanic landscapes and observe active geothermal activity, specifically at the Xiaoyoukeng crater where sulfur fumes are visible.

Getting There

The mountain is located in New Taipei City. From Taipei city centre, visitors typically take a bus or taxi to the Yangmingshan National Park area. Depending on the starting point and traffic, the journey usually takes between 45 and 90 minutes.

Time Required

Depending on the chosen trail and whether you intend to reach the summit, allow 3 to 6 hours for the visit. This accounts for the ascent, exploration of the crater areas, and the return trip to the trailhead.

When to Visit

The area is accessible year-round, though weather can change rapidly at high altitudes. It is advisable to check local forecasts for fog or rain before departing. The trails can become crowded during public holidays and weekends.
