Mornings tend to be more comfortable, since Okinawa's midday heat and humidity can make extended outdoor walking tiring, especially in summer. The area around the gardens is not dense with other attractions, so this is generally a standalone half-day trip rather than one stop on a packed itinerary. Hagushi (6.9km) and the broader Ryukyu Islands and Okinawa Islands sights (around 7.5–7.6km) are within a reasonably short drive if you want to extend the day, though they're best treated as separate legs of a car-based tour of central Okinawa rather than a quick add-on.
