Osaka Bay Tower

Osaka Bay Tower

The Osaka Bay Tower (大阪ベイタワー), also known as ORC 1, is a mixed-use, mainly hotel and office, skyscraper in the Osaka Resort City 200 building complex located in the Minato-ku ward of Osaka, Japan. Completed in March 1993, it stands at 200 m (656 ft) tall, with the top floor located at 188.7 m (619 ft). It is the 5th tallest building in Osaka Prefecture and the 36th tallest building in Japan.

Osaka Bay Tower

Osaka Bay Tower, also known as ORC 1, is a 200-metre skyscraper in the Osaka Resort City 200 complex in Minato-ku. It's primarily a hotel and office building rather than a tourist attraction with a dedicated observation deck, so most visitors experience it as a landmark on the bay skyline rather than as a place to go up and look out. It's worth knowing about mainly as a visual reference point when exploring Osaka's waterfront, and it can be seen clearly from nearby spots like Mount Tenpō and the Tempozan Ferris Wheel area.

Getting there

From central Osaka (Umeda or Namba), take the Osaka Metro Chuo Line toward Cosmosquare and get off near the Osaka Resort City complex; the ride takes roughly 25–30 minutes, plus a short walk from the station.

How much time to allow

Unless you're staying at the hotel or have business in the building, 15–20 minutes is enough to view it from outside and take photos.

When to go

As an office and hotel tower, it doesn't get crowded with sightseers. Late afternoon or early evening gives the best light for photos of the tower against the bay.

Combine with

  • Universal Studios Japan (2.6km)
  • Mount Tenpō (2.8km)
  • Kyū-Yodo River (2.9km)
  • Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan (3.3km)

These cluster around the Tempozan Harbor Village area, so it's easy to combine a walk past the tower with a full day at the bay.
