Selemnos River

The Selemnos is a river located in the Rio area of northern Achaea. It flows through the natural landscape of the region before emptying into the Gulf of Corinth. Travelers visit this area to observe the local river ecosystem and the coastal geography near the city of Patras.

Getting There

The river is located northwest of Patras city centre. Access is typically via taxi or local bus toward the Rio district. The journey generally takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Depending on whether you are walking along the banks or simply observing the mouth of the river, allow 1 to 2 hours for a visit.

When to Visit

The area is best visited during the spring and autumn when temperatures are moderate. Early morning or late afternoon provides the most stable light for viewing the landscape. It does not typically experience the high crowds found in the city centre.
