Transport Options in the City

Ayutthaya is a compact city where the primary attractions are spread across the Historical Park. The best mode of transport depends on your stamina and the weather.

• Bicycles: Ideal for independent travelers visiting the central ruins. They offer the most flexibility but can be challenging during the midday heat or rainy season.
• Tuk-Tuks: The most common motorized option. They are best for groups or those avoiding the sun. Drivers often offer hourly charters to visit multiple temples.
• Motorbike Taxis: Effective for quick, point-to-point trips within the city center or navigating narrow streets.
• Walking: Only feasible for very localized exploration, as the distances between major temple complexes are too far for a full-day walking tour.

Airport to City Transfers

Most visitors arrive via Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). There is no direct flight or train from the airport to Ayutthaya; you must first transit through Bangkok.

• Train: Take the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai station, then transfer to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal. This is the most cost-effective method but requires the most effort due to transfers.
• Private Taxi/Ride-Hailing: A direct drive from BKK. This is the fastest and most comfortable option, especially for those with heavy luggage, though it is the most expensive.
