Sutice (natural monument)
Sutice Natural Monument
Sutice is a geological rock outcrop located between Starý Plzenec and Tymákov. It is primarily visited by those interested in geology and paleontology, as the site contains exposed Paleozoic strata where trilobite fossils have been discovered. Visitors can walk along the rock face to examine these ancient geological layers.
Getting There
The site is located outside the center of Plzeň. Access is typically via car or local transport toward the villages of Starý Plzenec or Tymákov. The drive from the city center generally takes around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Visit Duration
Because the site is a specific geological outcrop rather than a large park, most visitors spend between 30 minutes to 1 hour examining the rock formations.
When to Visit
The site is accessible year-round. Daylight hours are necessary to clearly see the fossil details and strata in the rock. As a specialized natural monument, it does not typically experience large crowds.
