Pokhara Valley

Located in the Gandaki Province of western Nepal, this is one of the largest valleys in the country. Travelers visit the area for its geography, which serves as a gateway to the Annapurna mountain range and contains several lakes and river systems.

Getting There

The valley encompasses the city of Pokhara itself. Most visitors arrive via Pokhara Airport (PKR). Once in the city center, the primary sights of the valley are accessible by foot or short taxi rides, depending on the specific lake or viewpoint being visited.

Duration of Visit

Depending on whether you are using the valley as a base for trekking or simply visiting the local lakes and viewpoints, allow three to five days to explore the immediate area.

When to Visit

The best times to visit are during the spring and autumn months when the skies are generally clearer. The monsoon season can bring heavy rain and limited visibility. The area becomes crowded during peak trekking seasons.

Nearby Attractions

The valley's layout allows for easy combination with several local sites:

  • Bindhyabasini Temple (0.5km)
  • Kali Khola (1.4km)
  • Bhadrakali Temple (3.3km)
  • Bat Cave (3.9km)
