Old Royal Palace

Old Royal Palace

Located within the Prague Castle complex, this former royal residence dates back to the 12th century. Visitors go here to see the architectural transition from Gothic to Renaissance styles, most notably in the Vladislav Hall. The palace also houses a replica of the Bohemian crown jewels.

Getting There

From Prague city centre, you can reach the palace by taking tram 22 up to the Prague Castle stop. From there, it is a short walk uphill to the palace entrance. The journey typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on your starting point of departure.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the palace halls and view the exhibits.

When to Visit

The site gets crowded, particularly during the peak summer tourist season and midday. To avoid the largest crowds, arrive early in the morning. Visiting during the shoulder seasons of spring or autumn provides a more balanced experience.
