Isla de Lobos

Isla de Lobos is a small Atlantic island located approximately 8 km southeast of Punta del Este. Travelers visit the island primarily to observe its wildlife and view the open sea landscape. The island is home to a significant colony of sea lions and features a lighthouse.

Getting There

Access to the island is only possible by boat from the Punta del Este coast. The trip takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes depending on the vessel and sea conditions.

Duration of Visit

Visitors typically spend 2 to 4 hours on the island, allowing time for a walk to the lighthouse and observation of the animal colonies.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the southern hemisphere's spring and summer months when weather conditions are more stable for boat crossings. It is advisable to check sea conditions before departing, as rough waters can cancel trips. The island can become crowded during the peak summer tourist season.
