Rabat Zoo
Rabat Zoo
Opened in 1973, this zoo houses a variety of animal species and is specifically known for its pride of lions. These animals are descendants of the royal family's own lions, for whom the facility's first enclosure was originally built to accommodate.
Getting There
The zoo is located on the outskirts of Rabat. From the city centre, visitors typically use taxis or ride-sharing services. The journey generally takes between 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 2 to 4 hours to walk through the grounds and view the animal exhibits at a steady pace.
When to Visit
Visiting during the morning hours is recommended to see the animals when they are most active. Like many public attractions, it can become crowded during weekends and national holidays. The mild climate of spring and autumn is generally more comfortable for walking than the peak summer heat.
Nearby Attractions
The zoo can be combined with other sites in the region. Depending on your transport, you may visit the following nearby locations:
- Botanical Garden of Rabat: 7.4km
- Russian Orthodox Church in Rabat: 7.4km
- Dar al-Makhzen: 7.7km
