The Great Mosque of Rabat

Located in the old medina of Rabat, this is the largest Friday mosque in the district. It is situated at the intersection of Souk Sebbat Street and Bab Chellah Street. Travelers visit this site to observe its architecture, which retains elements of the Andalusian style.

Getting There

The mosque is located within the medina, which is accessible from the city center via a short taxi ride or a walk of approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on your starting point. Once inside the medina, follow the signs toward Souk Sebbat Street.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to view the exterior and the surrounding street architecture. Access to the interior may be restricted for non-Muslims, so most visitors spend their time observing the structure from the perimeter.

When to Visit

Visit during the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. The area can become crowded during Friday prayers, which is the primary time of worship for the local community. Avoid visiting during peak prayer times if you wish to navigate the surrounding streets easily.
