Tomb of Samuel

Overview

The Tomb of Samuel is a historical and religious complex located in the village of Nabi Samwil, set on a hilltop over 900 meters above sea level. Traditionally regarded as the resting place of the biblical prophet Samuel, it attracts visitors interested in religious history, archaeological ruins, and wide views over the Judean hills.

Getting There

From central Ramallah, the site is reachable by taxi or private car. The drive typically takes 20 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic and checkpoint conditions.

Visiting Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. This is enough time to view the tomb chamber, explore the excavated ruins, and take in the panorama from the rooftop.

When to Go

Spring and autumn bring moderate temperatures for exploring the exposed hilltop. Morning or late afternoon visits offer clearer visibility and avoid midday heat. The site draws larger crowds during religious holidays and weekends, so visit on a weekday morning for a quieter experience.
