Banpo Bridge

Overview

Banpo Bridge is a 1.2-kilometer double-decker crossing spanning the Han River between the Yongsan and Seocho districts in Seoul. The lower deck, Jamsu Bridge, runs directly beneath the upper roadway. Travellers visit to walk or cycle along the riverfront paths, view the urban skyline across the water, and observe the bridge's two-level structure.

Getting There

From central Seoul, reaching the riverside takes roughly 25 to 40 minutes. Subway Lines 3, 7, and 9 stop at Express Bus Terminal Station, which is about a 15-minute walk from the waterfront park below the bridge.

Time to Spend

Allow 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. This gives you enough time to stroll along the waterfront promenade, walk across the lower pedestrian deck, and view the river scenery.

When to Visit

Evenings are popular because the surrounding city lights illuminate the river. Spring and autumn offer comfortable temperatures for walking outdoors. The riverbank paths get crowded on weekend evenings, especially in warm weather. In winter, strong winds along the open river make conditions cold.

Nearby Attractions

You can combine your visit with these destinations north of the river:

  • National Museum of Korea (1.7 km)
  • Seoul Central Mosque (2 km)
  • Itaewon (2.7 km)
  • War Memorial of Korea (2.8 km)
