Shopping & districts
Al Twar
Overview
Al Twar is a district in eastern Deira located near Dubai International Airport (DXB). Travelers generally stop here for street-level retail, neighborhood shopping, and casual dining. Its location makes it a practical place to pick up everyday items or eat a meal before or after a flight.
Getting There
Reaching the area from the city centre takes roughly 15 to 25 minutes by taxi or rideshare. Public buses and nearby metro stations on the Green Line also connect the area to central districts.
Time to Allow
Allow 1 to 2 hours for a visit, which is enough time to walk through local shops or stop for food.
When to Go
Late afternoon and evening are the most practical times to visit as temperatures drop and storefronts open up. The cooler months from November to March are best for walking outdoors. Sidewalks and roads become crowded during weekday evening rush hours.
Nearby Combinations
You can combine a visit with several nearby areas:
- Al Qusais (1.1km): An adjacent district with neighborhood shops and eateries.
- Dubai City Tower (3.1km): A commercial landmark a short drive away.
- Al Waheda (3.5km): A neighboring residential community.
- Al Muraqqabat (3.9km): A bustling Deira district with vibrant shopping streets and dining.
