Sharjah Fort
Sharjah Fort
This traditional fortress is a two-story structure constructed from coral stone and mud brick. Visitors go here to examine traditional Arabian Gulf architecture and learn about the region's historical defensive building techniques.
Getting There
The fort is located in the heart of Sharjah. From the city centre, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or local transport, typically taking less than 10 minutes depending on traffic.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the structure and view the exhibits.
When to Visit
To avoid the midday heat, visit during the cooler morning or late afternoon hours. The winter months are the most comfortable season for outdoor exploration. Like many central attractions, it can get crowded during public holidays and weekends.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the fort can be combined with other cultural sites within walking distance:
- Sharjah Art Museum: 0.3km
- Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization: 0.8km
- King Faisal Mosque: 1km
- St. Michael's Catholic Church: 1.9km
