Independence Park
A city-center park in Shymkent that opened in 2011 to mark the 20th anniversary of independence. It's a pleasant place for a stroll past singing fountains, flower beds, and the Altyn Shanyrak monument, made up of 137 metal sculptures.

Shymkent Zoo
One of Kazakhstan's largest and oldest zoos, located in Shymkent. Its spacious grounds are home to a wide variety of animals, including endangered species.
