Preah Palilay

Preah Palilay is a small Buddhist temple located in a forested area north of the Angkor Thom royal palace. Visitors go here to see a smaller-scale religious site that remains more secluded than the primary monuments of the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Getting There

The temple is located within the Angkor Archaeological Park, several kilometers from Siem Reap city centre. Most travelers reach the site via tuk-tuk or bicycle. The journey from the city center typically takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on the transport method and traffic.

Duration of Visit

Because of its small size and simple layout, this site requires less time than the major temples. A visit of 30 to 60 minutes is generally sufficient to walk through the grounds and view the structures.

When to Visit

Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. This location typically experiences fewer crowds than the central Angkor Wat or Bayon complexes, making it a quieter stop during peak tourist seasons.
