What It Is

The Royal Armoury is Sweden's oldest museum, located in the vaults of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. It preserves royal ceremonial armor, weapons, coronation robes, and historic garments that document Sweden's monarchical and military history.

Getting There

From central Stockholm (T-Centralen), the site is a 15-minute walk south across the bridges. Alternatively, ride the metro to Gamla stan station on the red or green lines, followed by a 5-minute walk to the palace grounds.

Time to Allow

Plan for 1 to 2 hours to view the exhibitions and historic artifacts.

When to Visit

Midday and summer months draw the largest crowds, often coinciding with palace events. Arriving in the early morning or late afternoon offers a quieter visit. The indoor exhibition spaces make it suitable regardless of the season or weather.
