Stockholm Palace

Located on the island of Stadsholmen in Gamla Stan, this site is the official residence of the Swedish royal family. Visitors go here to explore the royal apartments, the royal museums, and the surrounding courtyards. It is situated adjacent to the Parliament House, allowing for a combined visit to the city's political and royal centers.

Getting There

The palace is located within the historic Old Town (Gamla Stan), which is centrally positioned in Stockholm. From the city center, it is accessible via the Tunnelbana (metro) to the Gamla Stan station. From the station, it is a short walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach the palace entrance.

Time Allocation

Depending on whether you visit only the state apartments or include the various museums on the grounds, allow between 2 and 4 hours for a complete visit.

When to Visit

The site gets crowded during the peak summer tourist season and during the changing of the guard ceremonies. To avoid the largest crowds, arrive early in the morning. The experience varies by season, with shorter daylight hours in winter affecting the visibility of the exterior architecture.
