Juma Mosque
About the Mosque
Located on Botanical Street beneath Narikala Fortress, Juma Mosque is the only remaining Islamic house of worship in Tbilisi's Old Town. It serves as an active religious site where Sunni and Shia Muslims pray together under one roof. Visitors go to view its brick facade, minaret, and shared interior space.
Getting There
From central areas like Freedom Square, the site is reachable on foot in roughly 15 to 20 minutes through the Old Town. A taxi from the center takes about 5 to 10 minutes depending on traffic.
Time to Allow
Allow 20 to 30 minutes to view the architecture and quietly step inside outside of prayer times.
When to Go
Mornings and mid-afternoons are the quietest times to stop by. Avoid visiting during Friday midday congregational prayers when the hall fills with worshippers and sightseeing is restricted. Modest dress covering shoulders and knees is required.
