Narikala
Narikala Fortress
Narikala is a hilltop fortress located above the center of Tbilisi, overlooking the Kura River. Visitors go here to explore the ancient fortifications and visit the restored St. Nicholas Church, which contains a collection of icons. The site provides a vantage point for viewing the city layout from above.
Getting There
The fortress is accessible from the city center via a cable car from Rike Park or by walking up the steep paths from the Old Town. The cable car ride takes a few minutes, while the walk takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on the starting point and pace.
Duration of Visit
Allow between 1 and 2 hours to walk through the fortress walls, visit the church, and observe the surrounding views.
When to Visit
Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat, as the site is exposed to direct sunlight. The area can get crowded with tourists during the peak summer months and on weekends.
