Overview

The OTE Tower is a 76-meter observation and telecommunications tower situated within the Thessaloniki International Fair grounds. Opened in 1970 and renovated in 2005, it provides panoramic views of Thessaloniki, the Thermaic Gulf, and the surrounding landscape. It serves primarily as an elevated vantage point for travellers seeking an overview of the urban layout.

Getting There

The site is within walking distance of central Thessaloniki, taking approximately 15 to 20 minutes on foot from Aristotelous Square. Several local city bus lines also stop along Egnatia Street and adjacent roads directly next to the fairgrounds.

Time to Allow

Allow about 45 to 60 minutes for a visit, which provides sufficient time to head up, observe the cityscape from different angles, and take in the views.

When to Visit

Clear days offer the furthest visibility across the city and the water. Late afternoon provides softer daylight across the urban area. Crowds tend to increase when major exhibitions and events take place at the fairgrounds. Visiting during heavy rain or overcast weather is not recommended, as low clouds and haze significantly obstruct the view.
