Overview

The Skanderbeg Monument is a bronze equestrian statue located in central Tirana. It honors Skanderbeg, the national hero who fought against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Travellers visit to view this key historical landmark and symbolic center of the city.

Getting There

Because the statue stands in the city centre, it is easily reachable on foot within minutes from central hotels and streets. Those arriving from elsewhere or from Tirana International Airport (TIA) can take a local bus, airport shuttle, or taxi directly to the square.

Allow around 15 to 30 minutes to observe the monument and walk around its base.

Mornings and late afternoons offer pleasant temperatures and good lighting. The open area often gets crowded during evenings and weekends when locals gather, so visit earlier in the day for a quieter experience.
