Skanderbeg Square
Overview
Skanderbeg Square is the primary public plaza in central Tirana. Named after Albania's national hero, this open pedestrian space serves as the main orientation point for the city. Travelers visit to see the surrounding civic architecture, take photographs, and observe daily local life.
Getting There
Located directly in the city center, the square is within a 2- to 5-minute walk from most central hotels and avenues. Municipal buses from outer districts also stop along the bordering streets.

Plan for 20 to 30 minutes to walk across the plaza and take photos. You may want up to 45 minutes if you wish to walk the entire perimeter.
When to Visit
Early morning is ideal for unobstructed photos before foot traffic increases. The area becomes noticeably crowded in the late afternoon and evening during the daily promenade. During summer, the open stone pavement offers little shade, so avoid midday visits if sensitive to heat.
