Coal Harbour

Overview

Coal Harbour is a waterfront district positioned on Burrard Inlet between downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. Travellers visit to walk along the paved seawall promenade, observe marine activity like floatplanes and boats, and view the harbor against the North Shore mountains.

Getting There

From central downtown Vancouver, the area is reachable on foot in about 10 to 15 minutes. Visitors using public transit can ride the SkyTrain or local buses to downtown stops near Burrard or Waterfront stations and walk a short distance north.

Time to Allow

Plan for 1 to 2 hours to walk the waterfront path, view the marina, and explore the immediate streetscape. Allow additional time if you plan to dine nearby or continue further along the seawall.

When to Visit

Daylight hours offer clear views of boat traffic and surrounding scenery. The seawall paths become crowded during sunny summer afternoons and weekends. Early morning visits are preferable if you want to avoid heavy foot traffic.
